Our Story
Kjelard Mead began with a spark of curiosity in Colorado Springs. A father and son decided to craft mead one day, seeking a shared pastime with a tangible result they could enjoy. That simple act grew into a vision to revive an ancient tradition with bold modern flavors. Inspired by our Nordic heritage, we honed the name “Kjelard” from Kjeldgaard—a legacy of strength and refinement in every sip. Today we craft with a mission to build community and deliver quality. We long to bring back the joy of gathering, something lost in our busy world, through old-time traditions and shared drinks.
Our meads reflect this vision with top-notch taste. Ren offers a pure honey essence, Søthet blends habanero and orange for a bold kick, and Festlig brings festive warmth with cloves and star anise. Each batch is crafted with precision to ensure a flavor that pops, distinct from the weak profiles often found elsewhere. We’re a veteran-led clan, rooted in Colorado Springs—home to Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, and the Air Force Academy—where our military heritage shapes our commitment to honor and excellence.
